Chair of French:

The Chair of the French Language of the French University in Armenia was established in 2000. Taking into account the below-mentioned three components, the Chair offers new teaching methods of the French language:

  • Teaching is communicative , and includes the following skills: reading, listening, speaking, writing,  and grammar,
  • Students get and retain knowledge of the French language through retaining and distinguishing the peculiarities of the French language from their mother tongue and using the language in communication-at the elementary stage of studying they build up simple, and at more advanced stages-complicated sentences,
  • Teaching language for professional purposes.

Objectives:

The Chair aims to enhance its work through the Moodle Learning Platform and motivate students through the use of teaching and communication technology tools. It also aims to train students and prepare them for Alliance Francaise tests (DELF B1 and DELF B2 for 2nd year students).

The University has more than 1,000 students and is designed to train highly qualified professionals so that they would meet competitive demands of the labor market in Armenia and the Caucasus region.

The graduates use their knowledge, skills and international experience in advantage of the development of relations between Armenia, France and Europe.

The University also organizes French language courses for its staff, lecturers and post-graduate students.

In general, 650 hours of French are scheduled to be taught at the University.

 

The Academic staff

 The academic staff consists of specialists with extensive experience in teaching French for basic and professional needs, and has 22 Armenian lecturers (instructors) and a volunteer. There is also an expert of the International Federation of French Language Teachers (FIPF) in the academic staff.

Chair of Foreign Languages:

The Chair of Foreign Languages offers courses in below-give four languages:

  • English
  • Spanish
  • German
  • Russian

 

English is taught as a second compulsory foreign language at all departments of the UFAR. Russian is compulsory throughout the first year of studies, and later on is included into the list of optional disciplines together with German and Spanish. Teaching of English and other foreign languages is implemented through practical lessons; teaching methods are based on modern communicative approaches. In addition to the main academic process, the Chair also implements scientific, educational and cultural projects as well.

Chair of Humanities and Social Sciences

The Chair of Humanities and Social Sciences of UFAR has been functioning since the foundation of the University. First year students are taught Armenian language, Armenian political science, logic, philosophy, basics of civil defense and first aid; second year students study rhetoric and ethics.

The list of the academic staff includes 8 experienced lecturers in the Chair, among which 5 are Associate Professors and one Police Lieutenant Colonel.

Chair of Physical Education and Sport

 

The UFAR’s Physical Education and Sports Chair was established in 2005.

There are 3 sports clubs in the Chair:

• Athletics

• Bodybuilding

• Sports dances

 

Currently, the list of academic staff of the Chair includes 3 instructors. The Chair regularly organizes sports competitions.

Chair of Mathematics:

The Chair teaches the following subjects in Mathematics and Statistics.

• Mathematics for the UFAR’s Preparatory Department

• General Mathematics

• Descriptive Statistics

• Financial Mathematics

• Probability and Statistics

• Optimization Methods, Time Series analysis and Prediction theory

• Data Analysis with Statistical Packages

 

Objectives:

To teach students modelling economic and financial multifaceted phenomena, solving problems using quantitative methods, exploring probability models; familiarize students with economic elements, and teach analyzing through statistical software packages.

The list of the academic staff includes 8 experienced lecturers, of which 4 are PhDs in the field of mathematics and physics, including 3 Associate Professors.
